History of Husky®
Husky® has been a trusted choice in the printing industry for decades. Introduced into production in the late 20thcentury, Husky® has long been recognized for its hard work and reliability. The paper brand’s mascot is the Husky dog breed, known for its endurance, strength, and reliability. This image aligns with how Domtar markets Husky® as a work horse, that delivers consistent, trouble-free performance across demanding printing environments.
Printability
Husky® has long been recognized for its reliability, versatility, and performance across a wide range of printing applications. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of offset, digital, and inkjet printing.
Excellent choice for home/office printing equipment. Husky® also runs extremely well on folding and inserting equipment, perfect for high-volume printing projects.
Appearance and Texture
Husky® is well known for its smooth surface, resulting in the ink staying on the surface of the paper, instead of the paper absorbing the ink. Husky’s smooth surface is consistent throughout the sheet ensuring ink is distributed evenly across the page. This reduces printing issues such as blotching, streaking and uneven color saturation.
Husky’s notable blue/white shade enhances its professional appearance and readability. The smooth surface paired with Husky’s color produces sharper text and images, vibrant colors, and better contrast and detail. These characteristics are especially important with printing projects such as brochures, magazines, and professional documents. Husky® features a 94 brightness rating which adds another layer for contrast and clarity.
This high-brightness factor makes text and images pop right off the page with professional precision. Not only is the brightness factor amazing, the opacity factor is just as astonishing! Ranging from 89 to 94, depending on the weight selected. Opacity minimizes ink show-through, ensuring clean double-sided printing.
Husky’s durability is no match for competitive brands! Husky can handle heavier ink coverage without compromising integrity, making it a favorite among designers and printers alike.
Environmental Atributes
Husky® delivers sharp results while supporting sustainable practices. Husky® is FSC and SFI certified. These certifications ensure the fibers used during production come from responsibly managed forests that prioritize biodiversity, conservation and community engagement.
Husky® is produced using 30% post consumer recycled fibers. It is manufactured using Elemental Chlorine Free virgin fibers and process Chlorine free recycled fibers, reducing harmful chemicals and promoting cleaner water systems. Husky® is also produced under alkaline (acid-free) conditions, which enhances its longevity and makes it suitable for archival purposes.
